The Art of the Brick:
DC Super Heroes
This contemporary art exhibition is created by legendary LEGO® artist Nathan Sawaya. Sawaya used over two million bricks to create more than 120 large-scale sculptures of the most enduring DC Comics Super Heroes and Super Villains, from Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, to The Joker and Harley Quinn. Spread across a series of immersive galleries, it is the world’s largest collection of DC Comics-inspired LEGO artwork, ever!
Legendary LEGO® artist Nathan Sawaya joined forces with Warner Bros. to create the world’s largest collection of DC Comics-inspired LEGO artwork. The Art of the Brick: DC Super Heroes showcases Sawaya’s interpretations on characters, vehicles, environments, comic book covers, and themes found throughout the DC Comics mythology. It includes ‘transformation and reinvention’, ‘strength and weakness’, as well as ‘good versus evil’. Fans from all around the world will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with their favorite Super Heroes and Super Villains.
The Art of the Brick: DC Super Heroes was officially announced to the world at the San Diego Comic-Con in July 2015. The exhibition premiered November 20 the same year at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, Australia. The exhibition stays true to the creative disciplines of Sawaya’s original The Art of the Brick traveling exhibitions, which encourage inspiration, education, and participation.
